Aviation Security Certification consists of a practical assessment and a theoretical test.
For individuals performing X-ray screening, the certification also includes a standardized image test and a theoretical test in X-ray screening.
To successfully complete the Aviation Security Certification, individuals must pass both the practical assessment and the aviation security theoretical test.
To certify as x-ray screeners, individuals must also pass a standardized image interpretation test and a theoretical test in X-ray screening.
All Airport Security Officers certified as x-ray screeners must be re-certified every 3 years. Airport Security Officers that are not certified as x-ray screeners must be recertified every 5 years.
Course description
Aviation Security Certification is intended for individuals beginning work as Aviation Security Officers who have completed the Aviation Security Officer Initial Training and on-the-job training (OJT).
